Hi,
How much of the 100% concentrate will be needed?
40 gal on each side of the EQ
x + .35(40gal-x) = .85(40gal)
x = .50(40gal)/.65
Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x=amount of 100% concentrate needed
Now we know that the amount of 100% concentrate that exists before the mixture takes place (x)+0.35(40-x) has to equal the amount of 100% concentrate that exists after the mixture takes place (0.85)(40). Sooooo our equation to solve is:
x+0.35(40-x)=0.85*40 simplify
x+14-0.35x=34 collect like terms
0.65x=20
x=30.8L---amount of 100% concentrate needed
CK
30.8+14-10.8=34
34=34
Hope this helps----ptaylor
