Question 840649: My son had this question on a quiz. Two different teachers got different answers. I would like to know which answer is correct. The word problem is:
A chemist makes a mixture using 24 cups of powder and .8 gallons of liquid. What is the unit rate of powder to liquid?
Do I need to convert the gallon to cups? What is the unit RATE?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What are the two answers?
4*4=16 cups to a gallon
4/5=.8
4/5*16=64/5
24/(64/5)=15/8=1 7/8 or 1.875
