Question 827413: A scientist has two solutions, which she has labeled Solution A and Solution B. Each contains salt. She knows that Solution A is 50% salt and Solution B is 75% salt. She wants to obtain 110 ounces of a mixture that is 65% salt. How many ounces of each solution should she use?
Answer by josgarithmetic(39617) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Maybe some kind of organic salt dissolved in maybe alcohol or a combination of water and alcohol. The salt is NOT sodium chloride.
H = 75%
T = 65%, target value
L = 50%
M = 110 ounces
u = amount in ounces of the L material
v = amount of the H material
and
How these are found and what to do, see the lesson "Mixing two concentrations for known amount of mixture", found in the lessons link in my profile.
