I have two different solutions of sulfuric acid, one with 75% acid and one with 45% acid. If I want to end up with 250ml of 50% acid solution, how much of each solution do I need to use?
----------
Equation:
acid + acid = acid
0.75x + 0.45(250-x) = 0.50*250
---------
75x + 45*250 - 45x = 50*250
---------
30x = 5*250
---------
x = 41 2/3 ml (amt. of 75% solution needed)
-----
250-41 2/3) = 208 1/3 ml (amt. of 45% solution needed)
-----
