A chemist has 10 ounces of 6% acid solution.How much acid must be added to make it pure 8% pure
---------------------
Equation:
acid + acid = acid
0.06*10 + 1*x = 0.08(10+x)
-------
6*10 + 100x = 8*10 + 8x
-----
92x = 2*10
x = (2/92)10
---
x = 0.2174 oz (amt of pure acid to add)
