fill the 5 gallon container
Pour that into the 3 gallon container
you now have 2 gallon
empty the 3 gallon container.
empty the 5 gallon container into the three gallon container
filler the 5 gallon container
You now have 2 gallons and 5 gallons which totals 7 gallons.
