a ten gallon container holds an 8% saline solution. I add 1/4 gallon fo salt to this container. What percent saline is this new solution?
------------
Original container:
amt= 10 gallons; amt of salt = 0,08*10=0.8 gallons of salt
--------------
New container:
amt=10.25 gallons; amt of salt = 0.8 gal + 1.25 cal= 2.05 gallons of salt
===============
Percent saline = (orig amt + new amt) = (0.08+1.25)/(10+1.25)
=1.93/11.25= 17.156 % salt solution
==============
