A tank holds 40 liters of a chemical solution. Currently, the solution has a strength of 10%. How much of this should be drained and replaced with 50% solution to get a final strength of 30%?
-----------
Equation:
active-active + active = active
0.10*40 - 0.10x + 0.50x = 0.30*40
--------
10*40 - 10x + 50x = 30*40
40x = 20*40
---
x = 20 liters (amt. to be removed and replaced)
