Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
percent ---------------- quantity
Alcohol type I 10.00% ---------------- x liters
Alcohol type II 50.00% ------ 20 - x liters
Mixture 40.00% ---------------- 20
Total 20 liters
10.00% x + 50.00% ( 20 - x ) = 40.00% * 20
10 x + 50 ( 20 - x ) = 800
10 x + 1000 - 50 x = 800
10 x - 50 x = 800 - -1000
-40 x = -200
/ -40
x = 5 liters 10.00% Alcohol type I
15 liters 50.00% Alcohol type II
