Question 76674: A chemist needs 130 milliliters of a 65% solution but has only 56% and 95% solutions available. Find how many millimeters of each that should be mixed to get the desired solution.
Answer by checkley75(3666)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.56X+.95(130-X)=130*.65
.56X+123.5-.95X=84.5
.56X-.95X=84.5-123.5
-.39X=-39
X=-39/-.39
X=100 ML OF 56% SOLUTION IS NEEDED.
130-100=30 ML OF 95% SOLUTION IS NEEDED.
PROOF
.56*100+.95*30=84.5
56+28.5=84.5
84.5=84.5
