Question 758337: I am having trouble solving this problem, please help. Thank you.
A pound of tin is worth $2 more than a pound of copper. Two pounds of tin are mixed with 8 pounds of copper to make bronze that sells for $4.15 a pound. How much is a pound of tin worth?

Answer by josgarithmetic(39618)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Copper price = m dollars per pound
Tin price = m+2 dollars per pound

Mix 2 pounds of tin with 8 pounds of copper:
Account for cost,
and to account for price.

Solving for m will give the price for the copper, per pound.
Add 2 and this is the price for the tin.
