Question 758112: A certain shade of green if formed by mixing 3 parts blue to 2 parts yellow. How many ounces of yellow are needed to make 37 ounces of this green? Round to the nearest tenth of an ounce.
I've done this a number of ways and not sure if I did it correctly or if I got the right answer. Here's what I got: 6.2 ounces.

The ratio given uses 5 total parts. The 37 ounces of this green would be imagined as 5 parts to make the whole 37 ounces. Do the calculating first, and the rounding afterwards.

ounces blue
and
ounces yellow

Rounding was not necessary.

3:2
Totalise = 5
3/5 x 37 = 22.2ozs
2/5 x 37 = 14.8ozs
Total 37ozs
