Question 745672: Ten cc of a solution of acid and water is 30% acid. I wish to dilute the acid in the mixture by adding water to make a mixture that is only 6% acid. How much pure water must I add to accomplish this?
Answer by josgarithmetic(39632) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
So you have 10 cc of 30% acid, and you want to add water to get 6% acid.
Let v = the volume of water to add.
Notice that the v of water gives no acid so the factor with v is zero.
Same as saying . Just solve for v.
