how many ounces of a 2% acid solution should be mixed with a 4% acid solution to produce 20 ounces of a 3.6% acid solution?
---------
Equation:
acid + acid = acid
0.02x + 0.04(20-x) = 0.036*20
----------------------------------
20x + 49*20 - 40x = 36*20
-20x = -13*20
x = 13 ounces (amt. of 2% solution needed)
----------------------------------
