Answer by Simnepi(216) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A)
to write these numbers as millions or billions, we put the whole millions/billions in front of the decimal point and write the other non-zero digits after the decimal point.
this number, in words, is 44 million, 500 thousand. so we have 44 whole millions.
i.e. 44.5 million
B)
This number in words is 7 billion, 220 million. so we do the same again
put the 7 in front of the decimal point and the other non zero digits after it, so we get
7.22 billions, this needs to be rounded to 1 decimal place which means we have
7.2 billion
C)
This number in words is 3 million, 110 thousand. Doing the same again gives
3.11 million, rounded to
3.1 million
D) here we have 8 million, so that's it!
8 million
E)
2 billion, 550 million so we have
2.55 billion which needs rounding (careful with the rounding on this one!) giving
2.6 billion
F)
this number is 425 million, we can write this in two ways either as millions or billions!
writing as millions we have
425 million
thinking of this as billions we get
0.425 billion, which we can round to
0.4 billion! This is quite inaccurate though so i would probably stick with writing this as millions.
