Question 702980: A beverage company mixes a beverage that contains 10% fruit juice with another one that contains 50% fruit juice. How many gallons of each should they mix to obtain 1300 gallons of a mix that contains 40% fruit juice ?
Answer by checkley79(3341) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.50x+.10(1300-x)=.40*1300
.50x+130-.10x=520
.40x=520-130
.40x=390
x=390/.40
x=975 gal. of 50% juice is used.
1300-975=325 gal of 10% juice is used.
Proof:
.50*975+.10*325=.40*1300
487.5+32.5=520
520=520
