Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x liters of a 5% salt solution are added to 10 liters of a 2% salt solution.,
Find the end concentration as a function of x
How much solution do you end up with?
You end up with (x+10) liters
:
How much salt does it contain?
let y = the final concentration of salt, in decimal form
.05x + .02(10) = y(x+10)
.05x + .2 = y(x+10)
= y
Change to per cent
100* = % is the final concentration of salt
