A certain amount of solution contains 18% alcohol.
8 litres of the solution is taken out and replaced with water.
The resultant solution contains 15% alcohol.
Find the volume(in litres) of the solution
:
let x = amt in liters of the solution
:
.18(x-8) = .15(x)
.18x - 1.44 = .15x
.18x - .15x = 1.44
.03x = 1.44
x = 1.44/.03
x = 48 liters is the vol of the solution
