Let x = amt of 50% acid
the resulting amt is to be 10 liters, therefore
(10-x) = amt of 25% acid

.50x + .25(10-x) = .40(10)
.50x + 2.5 - .25x = 4
.50x - .25x = 4 - 2.5
.25x = 1.5
x = 1.5/.25
x = 6 liters of 50% solution
and
10 - 6 = 4 liters of 25% solution
