Two angles are supplementary. One angle is 5degrees less than four times the other. Find the measures of the angles.
let x equal the first angle
Let y equal the second angle
Complete the equations;
x+y =?
x=?

If the angles are supplementary their sum = 180
so x+y=180
x=4y-5
we get that because one angle is 5 degrees less than four times the other
4 times the other is 4y
5 degrees less we subtract 5
x+y=180
x=4y-5
