Here is the problem
When a sound travels through water, the distance y in meters that the sound travels in x seconds is given by the equation y= 1440x. How far does a sound travel underwater in 5 seconds?

Plug the 5 seconds into the equation as x
distance = 1440(5)
y meters = 1440 meters/sec (x seconds)
7200 meters
