From a full 50 liter container of 40% concentration of acid, x liters is removed and replaced with 100% acid. Determine x if the final mixture is 50% acid.
--------------------------
Equation:
acid - acid + acid = acid
0.40*50 -0.40x + 1.00x = 0.50*50
---
40*50 - 40x + 100x = 50*50
60x = 10*50
x = (5/6)10
---
x = 8 1/3 liters (amt. to be removed and replaced)
