An 80 % idodine solution is to be mixed with a 40% iodine solution. How much of each should be used to get 12,000 milliliters of a 64% iodine solution?

Let amt of 80% solution be "x" ; amt. of iodine is 0.80x mml
Amt of 40% solution is "12000-x"; amt of iodine is 0.40(12000-x)=4800-0.4x mml

EQUATIOn:
iodine + iodine = 0.64(12000)=7680 mml
0.8x+4800-0.4x=7680
0.4x=2880
x=7200 mml (
