how many gallons of 40% cream must be added to 10 gallons of 4.5% milk to
make it into a mixture containing 18% fat?
:
Let x = amt of 40% cream required
:
An amt of fat equation
.40x + .045(10) = .18(x+10)
.40x + .45 = .18x + 1.8
.40x - .18x = 1.8 - .45
.22x = 1.35
x = 1.35/.22
x ~ 6.136 gallons of cream
