how much water(solution) must be added to 50 g of salt to prepare
a 20% by mass solution?
:
let w = no. of grams of water
:
.20(w+50) = 50
.2w + 10 = 50
.2w = 50 - 10
.2w = 40
w = 40/.2
w = 200 grams of water added to 50 grams of salt produces a 20% solution
