I would like this problem better if it specified the concentration of the solution so that it would be understandable to a wider audience, including physicists and chemical engineers.

Commercial "70% dextrose" is 70% w/v, where the "w/v" is read as "weight in volume" and means that the solution contains 70 grams of dextrose in 100 mL of solution. If the label (or the package insert) told me that the solution concentration is 70% w/v, then the problem is easy.

If the solution in the problem were 70% w/w, containing 70 gram dextrose in 100 grams of solution, then I would need to look up the density of dextrose solutions as a function of concentration.

A pharmacist would know that commercial "70% dextrose" is 70% w/v dextrose, and may assume that no one would ever imagine it any other way. A fifth grader may not even think that there are two possible meanings for "70% solution". A chemist, physicist, or chemical engineer knows that 70% may mean 70% w/w or 70% w/v. Since it does make a big difference, that person would ask for more information. A scientist working with dextrose may know if the solubility of dextrose is large enough for a 70% w/w solution to exist and be stable at room temperature.
