I have 480 gallons of acid at 7% strength.
I am adding an acid that is at 25% strength.
How do I find out how many gallons of acid, followed by the number of
gallons of water needed to finish with 2100 gallons of acid at 7% strength
:
You already have 480 gal of 7% strength so the mixture made with water and
the 25% acid will be: 2100 - 480 = 1620 gal
:
Let x = amt of 25% mixture required
:
.25x = .07(1620)
.25x = 113.4
x =
x = 453.6 gal of 25% acid
therefore
1620 - 453.6 = 1166.4 gal of water
:
Check the total
480 + 453.6 + 1166.4 = 2100 gal of final 7% mixture
