How far did the sailboat travel in the first 3 h?
:
let s = original speed before the wind change
then
(s-7) = reduced speed

If the first part was 3 hrs, the 2nd part would be 7-3 = 4 hrs

Write a distance equation; dist = speed * time
:
3s + 4(s-7) = 77
3s + 4s - 28 = 77
7s = 77 + 28
7s = 105
