I have a 35% solution and need a 3% solution. How much water do i add to obtain a 3% solution?
------
Equation:
Let x gallons be the amt. of liquid you are starting with.
--------
active + active = active
0.35x + 0*y = 0.03(x+y)
35x = 3x+3y
32x = 3y
y = 10.67x
------
So, if you started with 1 gallon of 35% solution
you should add 10 2/3 gallons of water.
