a garrison has enough food to the last for 24 days
how much longer will be the food last if each individual ration can be reduced by 20%

:
b)by how much each individual ration to be reduced if the food is to last 40 days
Let x = decimal equiv required to last 40 day
40 =
40x = 24
x =
x = .60 of original ration to last 40 days, that's a reduction of 40%
