A space heater tank contains 2 Liters of a mixture of water and antifreeze.
If 40% of the mixture is antifreeze, how much of the mixture should be drained and replaced with pure antifreeze so that the resultant mixture will contain 60% antifreeze?
:
Let x = amt drained and amt of antifreeze added
:
.40(2-x) + x = .60(2)
.80 - .40x + x = 1.20
-.4x + x = 1.2 - .8
.6x = .4
x =
x = liter drained and that amt of pure antifreeze added
