pure acid is to be added to 10% acid solution to obtain 90L of 53% solution. what amount of each should be used?
---------------------------------------
Equation:
acid + acid = acid
x + 0.10(90-x) = 0.53*90
---
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
100x + 10*90 - 10x = 53*90
-----
90x = 43*90
x = 43 L (amt. of pure acid to be added)
-------------------------------------------
