What I have so far:
1st mixture + 2nd mixture=total mixture
x(.11)+x(.16)= 2x(.13)
I am not sure where to go from here! Thank you for any help.

your equation makes the implicit assumption that the amounts of both mixtures are equal (you used the same quantity, x)

try this ___ x(.11) + (500 - x)(.16) = (500)(.13)
