how many ounces of a 35% alcohol solution must be mixed with 15 ounces of a 40% alcohol solution to make a 36% alcohol solution?
-----
Equation:
alcohol + alcohol = alcohol
---------------------------------
0.35x + 0.40*15 = 0.36(x+15)
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
35x + 40*15 = 36x + 36*15
x = 4*15
x = 60 oz (amt. of 35% solution needed)
