The electrical resistance of a wire is directly proportional to its length. If a 36 foot long wire has a resistance of 9 ohm(s) find the resistance of a 48-foot long wire.
-----------------
It's 1/3 longer, so it's 1/3 greater.
= 12 ohms
------------
9/36 = R/48
R = 12 ohms
