A person's weight on Venus is about 9/10 his weight on Earth. How much does a person weigh on Earth if he weighs 108 poundson Venus?
Let W = weight on Earth
then
(9/10)W = 108
multiply both sides by 10:
9W = 1080
divide both sides by 9
W = 120 pounds
