You can put this solution on YOUR website!
regular yogurt that is 3% is blended with nonfat yogurt to obtain low fat yogurt that is 1% fat. How many pounds of non-fat and how many pounds of regular yougurt is mixed to obtain 60 pounds of low fat yogurt?
-------------------------------------
3% yogurt DATA:
amount= x lbs. ; amount of fat= 0.03x lbs.
--------------------------
0% yogurt DATA:
amount= 60-x lbs. ; amount of fat = 0.0(60-x)=0 lbs.
----------------------------
1% yogurt DATA;
amount = 60 lbs. ;amount of fat = 0.01(60)= 0.6 lbs
-----------------------------
EQUATION:
0.03x+0 = 0.6
x= 20 lbs. (amount of regular yogurt that must be mixed in)
