Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How many ounces of water should be added to 4g of 1:4 solution to make a 1:6 solution?
-------------
A 1:4 solution is 1/5 = 20% active ingrediant and 4/5 = 80% water
---
A 1:6 solution is 1/7 = 14.29% active and 6/7 = 85.71% water
-----
Equation:
water + water = water
x + 0.8*4 = 0.8571(x+4)
-----
Multiply thru by 10,000 to get:
10000x + 800*4 = 8571x + 8571*4
---
1429x = 7771*4
x = 21.7523 grams (amt of water to be added)
