Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How many gallons of gasoline that is 6% ethanol must be added to 2,000 gallons of gasoline with no ethanol to get a mixture that is 4% ethanol
--------------------------
Equation:
eth + eth = eth
0.06x + 0*2000 = 0.04(x+2000)
-------------------------------
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
6x + 0 = 4x+4*2000
2x = 8000
x = 4000 gallons (amt. of 6% mixture needed)
