"Two angles are supplementary. One angle is 240 less than three times the other. Find the measures of each angle."

x = one angle
3x - 240 = other angle

x + 3x - 240 = 180
4x - 240 = 180 {combined like terms}
4x = 420 {added 240 to both sides}
x = 105 {divided both sides by 4}
3x - 240 = 75 {substituted 105, in for x, into 3x - 240}

105 and 75 are the two angles
