let x=ounces of pure water to be added.
note that the amount of acid does not change. We are just adding more water to get a weaker concentration of acid.
.80(12)=.2(12+x)
9.6=2.4+.2x
.2x=9.6-2.4=7.2
x=7.2/.2=36
