Question 425733: a picture frame is 18cm by 14cm. there are 192cm^2 of picture showing. what is the width of the frame?
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(18-2w)(14-2w)=192
252-64w+4w2=192
4w2-64w+60=0
w2-16w+15=0
(w-15)(w-1)=0
w=15 or 1
Throwing out 15 as too wide, the width of the frame is 1 cm.
16x12=192..
