Hamburgers ----- x
Hotdogs ------------ y
5 x + 3 y = 24.25 .............1
3 x + 5 y = 21.25 .............2
multiply (1)by -5
Multiply (2) by 3
-25 x + -15 y = -121.25
9 x + 15 y = 63.75
Add the two equations
-16 x + 0 y = -57.5
/ -16
x=3.59
plug value of x in (1)
5 x + 3 y = 24.25
17.97 + 3 y = 24.25
3 y = 24.25 + -17.97
3 y = 6.28
y = 2.09
