Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
8 gal. of a 80% alcohol solution was mixed with 12 gal. of pure water. What is the concentration of the mixture?
---------
Equation:
alcohol + alcohol = alcohol
0.80*8 + 0*12 = x(8+12)
----
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
80*8 = 100x(20)
640 = 2000x
x = 0.32
The concentration of the mixture is 32%
