Question 408053: A contractor mixes concrete from bags of pre-mix for small jobs. How many bags of 3% cement should he mix with 5 bags of 28.2% cement to produce a mix containing 12% cement.
I have been trying for two days on this problem. I have gotten different answers everytime. I am using a picture, table and still not getting it.
Please help!!

this is a standard solution format for the majority of mixture problems
x(3%) + 5(28.2%) = (x + 5)(12%)
