If you have 12 liters of antifreeze at a 40% solution how many liters do you need to add to increase the percentage to 60%?
:
Let x = amt of pure antifreeze to get a 60% solution
:
.40(12) + x = .60(x+12)
4.8 + x = .6x + 7.2
x - .6x = 7.2 - 4.8
.4x = 2.4
x =
x = 6 liters
