Question 399613: How many ounces of a solution that is 10% alcohol should be mixed with 12 ounces of a solution that is 24% slcohol to create a solution that is 15% alcohol?
Answer by checkley79(3341) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.24*12+.10x=.15(12+x)
2.88+.10x=1.8+.15x
.10x-.15x=1.8-2.88
-.05x=--1.08
x=-1.08/-.05
x=21.6 ounces of 10% solution is used.
Proof:
.24*12+.10*21.6=.15(12+21.6
2.88+2.16=.15*33.6
5.04=5.04
