Question 386803: How many gallons of a 60% alcohol solution must be mixed with 60 gallons of a 15% solution to obtain a solution that is 50% alcohol?
Answer by robertb(5830) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
0.60x + 0.15*60 = 0.50(x + 60);
0.60x + 9 = 0.50x + 30;
0.10x = 21;
x = 210 gallons, the amount of 60% alcohol solution that must be added.
