Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How much pure acid should be mixed with 2 gallons of a 60 percent acid solution in order to get a 90 percent acid solution?
----
Equation:
acid + acid = acid
0.60*2 + 1.00x = 0.90(2+x)
----
Multiply thru by 100 to get:
60*2 + 100x = 90*2 + 90x
10x = 30*2
x = 6 gallons (amt. of pure acid that must be added)
