Question 338141: one solution is 20% acid and another is 12%. How many cubic centimeters of each solution should be mixed to obtain 100 cubic centimeters of a solution that is 15% acid.
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.20x+.12(100-x)=.15*100
.20x+12-.12x=15
.08x=15-12
.08x=3
x=3/.08
x=37.5 cm^3 of 20% solution is used.
100-37.5=62.5 cm^3 of 12% solution is used.
Proof:
.20*37.5+.12*62.5=.15*100
7.5+7.5=15
15=15
